Jason Baird

Jason Baird, Director of JMB FX Studio has been based in South East Queensland, Australia for the past 20 years. His interest in Make-Up Effects being sparked many years before at the age of 5, seeing Gene Simmons from Kiss, in full make-up and bat wings, spewing blood. A powerful image that left its mark. The Universal Monsters were also a major influence from an early age.

Starting his freelance career in 1989 he began the long process of establishing himself as a talent that could be relied upon. Jason started his company, JMB FX Studio in 1996 as the demand for a fully equipped Special Make-Up Effects studio grew.

Seeing the industry continually grow, the company purchased a studio complex in 1999, 10 minutes from the Warner Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast. JMB FX Studio has now doubled in size with the purchase of the adjacent studio space in 2008.

JMB FX Studio has gone on to supervise and produce effects for films such as, Star Wars Episode 2, The Matrix- Reloaded and Revolutions, House of Wax, Ghost Ship and Aquamarine. Recent film projects include, the Spielberg produced double, The Ruins and the 10 part mini series The Pacific.

Welcome all, to JMB FX Studio workshops. My vision is to impart some of the wisdom, skills, tricks and tips we have learnt and developed ourselves over the past 20 years in a series of intensive workshop environments. I have had a passion for Special Makeup Effects all my life and am now very excited to be sharing my expertise and knowledge with you in these workshops.
